The endpoint of a Stroke that does not terminate in a Serif (Anatomy). Terminals appear in Sans Serif Typeface and on the non-serifed ends of strokes in serif designs (for example, the top of a single-story a or the ends of the curved strokes in c and s). Terminal shapes include ball terminals (rounded dots), lachrymal or teardrop terminals, beak terminals (sharp, angled cuts), and simple sheared or flat-cut endings. Terminal style is a subtle but important distinguishing feature among typefaces within the same classification.
